Arvitis Steves has spent much of his life out-of-doors, one way or another. He spent one tour in the army, doing things he doesn't talk about, and another as a scout and bodyguard for StarReacher, Inc. before enrolling at university. Although, Arvitis only holds an undergraduate degree in Archeology, he is an excellent field archaeologist. He spent the last four years working in that capacity for StarReacher.

Arvitis is very interested in the Old Imperium, some would say he is obsessed, and they wouldn't be wrong. He will ignore almost anything else when he is on the trail of some new piece of information. Combined with his tendency to keep to himself, and not talk about his interests he often comes across as standoffish and aloof.

Arvitis inherited an interest in the Mae Lee.

Jaren Kuzov has short brown eyes and hair that he keeps cut short all the way around. He is clean shaven, and 'shirt sleeve tanned' on face and arms. Jaren tends to wear black BDU's or coveralls with a black cap. He keeps his uniforms tailored and well-pressed, that contrast with his well-worn ship boots. When the law allows, Jaren wears a hawk billed bosun's knife in a sheath on this belt.

Jaren joined the Confederation Marines at 17 and found the discipline and camaraderie to his liking, and stayed in 8 years, eventually making Sergeant. He enjoyed visiting various planets, but didn't really care for the combat, so he left the Corps.

While working his way home aboard a tramp starship he discovered his second career. With a little Fast Talk he secured a berth on a merchant ship of a fledgling line. Jaren worked hard and developed a number of skills in Engineering. After his employer was driven out of business, Jaren signed on a Free Trader and worked there for several years. With the Free Trader, Jaren improved his ship skills and began to develop merchant skills.

During the recent war, Jaren was recalled by the Marines and served with a drop regiment in the Cathey campaign. After the war Jaren returned to his former ship, but personal problems caused him to leave.

A patron provided Jaren with the capital to buy an interest in the Mae Lee.

A little over a year ago Woof signed the Mae Lee's Articles and joined her crew as Assistant Steward. As part of the Articles the crew were allowed to buy into ownership of the Mae Lee, and Woof did, even going so far as to borrow money to do so.

When Akus Moby died, Woof was visiting family on Segui. When he returned to Mark he was shocked to discover his Captain dead and his ship missing. Teaming with a crewmate and a new partner, Jaren Kuzov, Schultz began trying to find the missing ship. This brought him, and his group, into conflict with a group of heirs that appeared on the scene.

Eventually, the two groups merged, losing only Woof's former crewmate, who didn't feel he could work with the heirs. Together they found the Mae Lee and thwarted hijackers trying to steal it out from under them.

Cory's assignment during the recent war between the Confederation and the Zeristu Empire was to gather information in Zeristu and neutral territory. Cory's cover was that of a travelling merchant, buying and selling speculative cargos from planet to planet. He developed rudimentary merchant skills during the mission, but wasn't really required to earn a living from trade. Cory's travels took him through most of Zeristu space and into the Muan Gwi system, but he spent very little time coreward of the Mark system.

After the war, Cory made his way back to the capital and found his services were no longer needed by the CSA Navy. He had just decided to try his hand at trading, for real, when he was notified that he was one of the heirs of Akus Moby, and part owner in the merchant ship, Mae Lee.

Kelly Hoenja was a street kid growing up on a high law planet. After one memorable "joy ride" he was given the choice between a nice long jail sentence or a tour in the Confederation Navy. Kelly chose the Navy, where he thrived...between bouts of trouble with regulations.

As time passed Kelly turned into be an excellent engineer and a leader below decks. Just before the last war Kelly was promoted to Master CPO and was second the second NCO in the Confederation Navy. The death of Darxi Braken put Kelly in line to be Top Hat, that was before the Second Battle of Cathey.

Now, Kelly is a former Chief Petty Officer stripped of all his honors and benefits, lucky to not be doing hard time. Kelly's main goal in life was to get revenge on the man that destroyed his career and had him branded a coward.

Inheriting a share of the Mae Lee has given Kelly an Engine Room again, that makes him happy. but nothing will satisfy him until he has his revenge on that damned Lord Captain!

Martan Vishinik's parents where the owners of a small, but successful Merchant Line operating out of Argent. They were killed in a freak accident when Martan was at university, he dropped out to take over the business.

Although, Martan tried his best and began to develop good trading skills the business slowly failed. Martan did not delegate well and when he did he picked the wrong people. He made successful trades, then lost his profits in red-tape and regulations. Martan's reputation among his employees was that of a arrogant young know it all, but that only covered his internal fears and apprehensions.

It was almost a relief to him when he was drafted into the Confederation Navy at the beginning of the recent war. Lt Vishinik put the business in the hands of others and went to war.

He served capably as a Bridge Officer aboard a destroyer and picked up a number of ship skills to complement his merchant skills. His successes gave him more self-confidence. He felt more sure of himself, but didn't need to show it so much. The war also tempered and humbled him. He went in as an arrogant young man, and he came out a confident skilled mature man.

It's too bad the war didn't treat his company as well as it did Martan. When he was demobilized, Martan returned to Argent to find his parents company completely bankrupt and in receivership. After the few remaining assets were sold off, Martan had next to nothing. Nothing except a burning desire to prove himself, and rebuild the lost business bigger and better than ever.

The call from the lawyers informing him that he was an heir to Akus Moby and had inherited a share in a merchant ship seemed like the perfect opportunity to Martan. He intends to use his partnership on the Mae Lee as a springboard to the creation of a trading empire...either with his partners, or over them.

How he feels now that he has gotten to know his new cousins is something he has kept to himself.

Research, Computer, Medical (Trauma Care), Medical (Diagnosis), Medical (Surgery), Gunnery, Athletics (Gravball), Geology, Biology, Pistol

Mira Hasta-Rur comes from a middle class family in the city of Maston on Argent. Her parents are both professional people and Mira was trained to be the same. Mira was very good in school, but she had an adventurous side too. For example, she joined the grav handball team in high-school and soon became the star of the squad and champion of the city.

After high-school, Mira entered college and studied to become a doctor. She graduated with honors, and was expected to take her degree in medicine and pursue a successful career at one of the larger Maston hospitals on Argent. Instead she confounded everyone and joined the Confederation Scouts.

In the Scouts, Mira served as ship's doctor aboard a small survey ship exploring the rim and trailing edges of CSA territory. She became skilled in several ship skills, Gunnery, Electronics, and Engineering, and developed a passion for bio-research. Her main area of interest is the effects of and treatment for allergistic materials and micro-toxins in humans.

Mira was not involved in the recent war to any great extent, her ship was working several parsecs from the closest Zeristu incursion. However, after the war she was caught up in the large cutbacks done by the CSA and was released from the Scouts.

Her parents were thrilled. Her mother had her a job lined up at Argent General and a list of potential husbands even before she got home. Mira, on the other hand, wasn't ready to settle down. She was resting at home, trying to decide what to do next, when the letter arrived informing her that she was the heir to Akus Moby and had inherited a share in a merchant ship.

She jumped at the chance to go exploring again!

Ricardo "Cardiac" Luz O'Brien -- (Bruce Johnson)

Outstanding Skills
Grav Craft, Ship's Boat, Pilot (Space), Survival (wilderness), Ship Engineering, Carousing, Pistol, Autorifle

Ricardo thinks Gambling should be added to his outstanding skills list, and that has gotten him into more trouble over the years than anything else...except for his drinking.

Ricardo O'Brien escaped, in his words, from Bonzi to join the Confederation Scouts at 18 where he served six full terms. He proved to be very good at field work, but exploring new worlds and infiltrating enemy and nonaligned ones to gather intelligence. Yes, as long as he was on a mission, Ricky was one of the best scouts in the Field Division. When he wasn't on a mission, he was one of the worst!

Ricardo had a low boredom threshold, it seems, and when he wasn't working he filled his time with drinking, carousing and gambling. The drinking lead to fights, the carousing lead to stupid stunts, the gambling kept him broke, and all three lead to Ricardo going up and down in rank like a yoyo.

During the last Zeristu war, the infiltration team Ricardo was on was caught. Many of his team mates died. Ricardo was wounded, captured and put in a POW camp. At the camp Ricardo organized and lead a successful escape in a stolen supply ship. The escape took its toll, though, and Ricardo spent the last few months of the war in a hospital on New Georgia. The enforced rest, nearly drove Ricardo mad. Well officially the doctors decided he was anyway and gave him a medical discharge. If that wasn't bad enough, they and wanted to send him to a mental hospital for evaluation and treatment. Ricardo didn't want to go, and escaped again, this time from the hospital.

Several months of drinking and gambling his way across the CSA brought him to Argent. He was down to his last few credits when the lawyer's letter came. Ricardo was heir to a merchant ship, left him by a man he never knew.

It was a chance for a new start. A chance to have a mission in life instead of being given missions. Ricardo took the share in the ship and hasn't looked back. It is interesting to note that Ricardo hasn't once gone off on a binge since inheriting the Mae Lee.

Shawn Smith joined the Merchant Service out of high-school and has served with both a large line and a free trader. He has worked in the Purser's department, all the way up to the level of Chief Steward on a Jobert Liner, and he has worked on the bridge of small freeboot trader. Over the years, he has developed keen merchant skills and is a shrewd trader and an excellent judge of a cargo's value.

Shawn might still be with the Jobert Line, if it wasn't for an incident 8 years ago when Shawn was accused of theft...among other things. In order to avoid disgrace to the line he resigned. If he hadn't resigned, he would have certainly been fired.

After that incident, Shawn signed aboard a small ship working the edges of CSA space, and the edges of the law. He may not admit that that ship was engaged in smuggling but a reasonable person could draw that conclusion on their own. His time aboard this ship honed his trading skills, taught him his bridge skills, and gave him an opportunity to become very good with a pistol.

Shawn was on Gorath when the lawyer's letter caught up with him. He was shocked to discover he has heir to a merchant ship. left him by a man he had never heard of. He wasn't about to look a gift poni in the mouth though and accepted right away.
